will.i.am live at MTV's Isle of Malta

If you've been following my twitter or instagram (username: londonlipgloss) you'll have seen that earlier in the week I flew over to Malta for MTV's Isle of Malta gig which is by far the biggest date in the diary for the Maltese (and half of Europe!) when it comes to live gigs. With around 50,000 attendees, it's not a backyard 'do. The confirmed artists for this year were Eva Simons, Nelly Furtado, Flo Rida and will.i.am. I was flown there with official sponsor Air Malta and I have to say honestly the flight was very pleasant indeed. I landed in Malta Tuesday afternoon ready and raring to go for the gig.

The Isle of MTV show takes place in Il-Fosos Square near Valletta in Malta. It is, incredibly, a completely free gig that is open to absolutely anyone. Isn't that amazing?! will.i.am for completely free. Due to this nature, around 50,000 attendees visit the gig and the atmosphere is absolutely electric. I was doing some ground work getting the punters ready for the show by giving out free drinks all in the name of "what would you do" for Air Malta and MTV - the results were interesting to say the least. Stay tuned to my twitter for some clips of that! After Eva Simons and Nelly Furtado both warmed the crowd up, I headed into the golden circle to catch some of Flo Rida. I can't say i'm the biggest Flo Rida fan, I knew Low and that was about it. I did recognize a lot of his tracks though including Wild Ones and the track the crowd went absolutely mental for - Whistle.

The main act that both myself and clearly 50,000 people were all looking forward to was will.i.am and he did not disappoint! Bringing on The Voice protege Tyler James for OMG and Eva Simons afterwards for This Is Love. He was so totally will.i.am with the iPad on his face thing and the laser show - really cool.

For me a huge part of the experience was the crowd and the general vibe of the festival. It was very young, with a lot of the attendees having flown from all over Europe to visit the gig. It had a great summery, holiday vibe about it but wasn't all up in your grill intense hen/stag do Ibiza style - if that makes sense. It felt like a celebration, an official opening to the summer, a right of passage for the younger generation preparing for Uni or even college. I got stuck in dancing away with the party goers and absolutely loved being a part of it. I couldn't recommend it more. If you're thinking of a couple days getaway, love your music and love a good party - hop on an Air Malta flight next year and head to the Isle of MTV. You'll have an absolute blast.

What do you think of MTV's Isle of Malta? Do you think the line up was good? Is it something you'd go to? I reckon so many people that hadn't heard of it until now would love it! Stay tuned for more Malta pics!

| top: zara | shorts: motel rocks | shoes: new look | necklace: vivienne westwood |

A few months ago I went to the Spring/Summer Motel Rocks blogger launch party where we were shown the gorgeous, colourful S/S offerings from Motel. I remember being a little daunted at some of the bright pieces, so when offered a piece to take home I decided to go for these gorgeous high waisted shorts. They are never something I would pick normally, so I thought i'd be daring and go for it. Guess what? Once I actually tried them on... I loved them!! I think this is definitely one of the most colourful outfits i've ever worn on this blog. I did have a hard time finding something I felt that would go with them but then I spied this Zara shirt when I was in Malaga and when I got home I felt the soft blue in the center of the shirt went perfectly with the shorts! The shoes, well! That's a whole 'nother story. Colourful and studs?! Words fail me. (I'm in so much love it's unreal!)

I'm feeling quite summery at the moment. I went to Lovebox festival last Friday courtesy of the amazing Talk PR and Puma Fragrances, and even though it was a bit rainy, I still felt summery inside. As you read this i'm on my way to Malta/in Malta preparing for a few days with Air Malta at MTV's Isle of Malta festival where i'll be getting to grips with will.i.am and Flo Rida just to name a couple! It's 33 degrees over in Malta so these kind of outfits are going to be out in full force!

You can check out the Motel Rocks shorts here - I want all of their shorts!

What do you think of the Hawaiian style shorts from Motel? Do you like this summery kind of outfit? Are you too, like me, trying to ignore the rain and focus on the summery vibes..?

Ombre Leopard Nails

I love experimenting with my nails. You should know this by now! I'm always playing. During the rather tense, and longwinded England game last night I decided to keep myself occupied by trying out a nail idea that had worked in my head up until now but I hadn't actually tried. I figured I had 90 minutes to play about with it, so I went for it. I'm really happy with the way they turned out and decided to make a little tutorial to show you guys how to do it yourself too! It's easy, if I can do it you totally can! It looks so striking when finished as well. It's so on trend right now, incorporating two smokin' hot trends - ombre, and animal print. I've a feeling you'll all be rockin' ombre nails soon enough if you haven't already! If you do try this tutorial, please send me a picture tweet @londonlipgloss and show me! I'd love to see! One thing I forgot to include in the picture is some nail varnish remover, definitely keep that on hand cause you'll need it for the clean up afterwards. Also if you don't have a nail art pen, just sub it out with a cheap eyeliner - I find MUA or Collection 2000's do the trick perfect. Enjoy!

Woohoo! Overall this took me about an hour, but I was distracted by football. Give it a go and let me know how you got on! What do you think of my leopard ombre tutorial? Reckon I should give some more designs a go? I'm no nail pro but i love having gorgeous nails - it's so easy to do at home too!

YSL's Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation

The beauty world was set alight a couple months ago with the news that YSL would be expanding their best selling product - the Touche Eclat - into a foundation of the same name. It's launching on the 28th June, so not long to go now until you can get your mitts on it. Now I know i'm probably a little later to the bandwagon than some other bloggers, but i really wanted to try it out in the rain, in the sun, running through London and til 6am gatecrashing the St. Johns May Ball (all these things happened.) I've had it for the last few weeks and i've had a great chance to trial it properly.

The 22 (!) different foundations are grouped into three different shade families, either B (Beige) BR (Beige Rose) BD (Beige Dore.) I wasn't sure which one i'd be most suited to so I got my hands on a sample of B10 - the lightest - and BR10 so I could try them both out and see how I got on. If you check out the swatches above, BR10 is on the left, and B10 is on the right - so you can see the slight difference. BR10 is very, very pale and I was incredibly impressed! It suits me straight out of the pot which I never, ever have. I have to stress how important that little detail is for us paleys - it's really great news. B10 is just that tiny bit too golden toned for my skin due to my pinky undertones.

Ok I always think it's important to start with some facts about my skin, regardless of whether you're a regular reader or not (sorry if this is old news to you.) I have very pale skin, comparable to NC5 in powdered MAC products, and I currently mix every foundation I own down with a pure white to get it to suit me. I have combination skin, with my problem area being an oily nose - bad sunburn as a child :( - but my cheeks and the rest of my face are quite balanced and normal. I don't hugely suffer from breakouts, but if I do they're on my chin.

Bearing all that in mind, I've found that it sinks into my skin really quickly. There's no residue left behind on my skin and even when you layer it up a few times it doesn't go cakey or thick. What I did find was that it gets a little slippy on me around my nose so I have to set that area with a little powder to stop it moving too much but otherwise the coverage and the feel of the foundation is amazing. I've loved wearing it, and it's come close to my top foundations!

YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation will retail for £28 from the 28th June nationwide.

What do you think of the new YSL foundation? Will you be itching to try it when it comes out? Great news for pale girls as it's a perfect match! Will you be picking one up?

Benefit Cosmetics in Glamouriety - the UK Premiere!

If you had been following my Twitter feed on Monday night, you may have seen some rather bizarre tweets from BAFTA House when I attended the UK premiere of a film - oh yes, a film! - by Benefit Cosmetics. It totally wasn't a conventional night by any stretch of the imagination. I mean for starters, when have you ever heard of a brand creating a 45 minute film about their brand before? Never. But, this is Benefit and they don't do things by halves. Having founded the brand over 40 years ago, Jean and Jane Ford wanted to tell the story of Benefit in the only way they knew how - in a glamourous, feature length film. BAFTA House soon very quickly filled with friends and family of Benefit, it really was a true honour to be there.

The film features so many amazing Benefit in jokes including a sketch with the rather hunky Dr. Feelgood - which was much to the crowd's rapturous applause! There was a song by the original "show girl" *wink wink* who Jean and Jane made the first ever Benetint from rose petals for - and one of Benefit's first ever and still most loyal customers, a cross dressing farmer. I found myself grinning, laughing, crying and thoroughly enjoying every minute of the 45 in which it was screened. It was perfectly made, absolutely hilarious and a real credit to the company. I left after a very glamourous party with feathers in my hair and a smile on my face "laughter is the best cosmetic so grin and wear it!" feeling so happy to have been a part of it and inspired by the brand and it's story.

It's been created as a new training film to show employees of Benefit and people involved with the brand, so i'm not sure if you will get to see it unless you are involved, but i'm sure Benefit will find a way of getting it online somehow! The video i've embedded above is also a secret youtube link so you can only view it here guys! Not available otherwise on their channel. Make sure you watch it because it's hilarious and I'm telling you now, not like anything else you'll see from a cosmetics brand!

I'm going to leave you with a little quote that Jean and Jane told me face to face when meeting them on Monday (what an honour!) because after I told them I was a beauty blogger, they both said in exclamation: "you have the best job in the world!"

YSL Pure Chromatics palette in shade 7 'Shell' - YSL Summer Look 2012

Today is the nationwide launch of YSL's Summer campaign to get their Summer look for this year. It's choc-a-bloc full of brand new products from bronzers to eyeshadows to lip glosses and lipsticks. You can get a glimpse at some of the collection on Temptalia. I got my paws on some of it and 'cause it's landed in store today I thought i'd let you all know what I thought. Today's post is gonna be about the Pure Chromatics palette in shade 7 - known as Shell. There are three palettes overall, and two of them are quite safe. Think soft browns, taupes, greys, neutrals basically. This palette completely defies that by consisting of two shimmering translucent shades - one pink toned and one white toned - a yellow gold and a strong plummy aubergine colour. The promo image - albeit controversial apparently? although I really like it - contains a huge hint of this gorgeous plummy colour by using it as the main focus of the smokey eye.

Basically, I dunno about you, but i'm getting so bored of the same palettes being churned out of every single brand at the minute. As soon as I opened this one, my eyes lit up! I was taken by it and loved how completely unique it was to anything else for a Summer campaign. Infact, i'd have massively penned it as being an Autumnal palette if i'm honest. Never the less, i'm totally embracing it for Summer.

The only problem I feel is the two paler shades. They're not as pigmented as I wanted them to be and that was a real let down. The idea of the Chromatics palette is that they can be used wet and dry, but I tried those sparkly shades wet and dry and both had minimal payoff. Infact in the swatch above that is those two shades used wet (the other two used dry) so I think that's a huge shame. I'm gonna keep playing with it and find a new way to use them, but the other shades are brilliant! My favourite way to wear them at the moment is using the aubergine shade on the top of the lid, and the gold as eyeliner on the bottom. So striking!

The YSL Pure Chromatics palette in 7 Shell retails at £39 across all YSL counters from today!

What do you think of the Summer 2012 collection? Do you agree with me that this palette is gorgeous or is it not your cup of tea? What do you think about the Pure Chromatics palettes?

17. Watching Biffy Clyro in Swindon | 18. In the car to see Biffy

This is probably the least Jubilee orientated Instagram updates around at the moment but this is a little snap shot into some of the stuff i've been up to these past two weeks. None of which involved any street parties or flags or Queen masks. Oops. Worst Londoner ever? I've been to three awesome gigs, first Lina snagged us some free tickets in to see Guns and Roses so we went on a little adventure resulting in us getting home at 6am! I also went to see a Hundred Reasons 10 year anniversary show to commemorate Ideas Above Our Station, and I also had my first piece of online music journalism published on hihi magazines website about the gig. I then went to see a Biffy Clyro warm up show and took the drive to Swindon to see them. I got to hang out with them for a bit afterwards and chat to them before they headed to Download which was lovely - they're honestly some of the nicest guys i've met.

I've been playing with makeup as always, trying out the brand new YSL foundation and also some new lipsticks, as well as a bunch of new releases from Accessorize Beauty. I also had my article printed in easyjets inflight magazine so look out for that if you're flying easyjet anytime soon. They very accurately penned me as a fan of 'eating' and as you can see from my snaps I do spend most of my time eating.

Other than that, loving the Euros, loving the sunshine (when it stuck around) loving the Bank Holiday and really loving all of these awesome gigs that are happening. This week i've got some events, some hang outs with friends and i'm being taken backstage to Lovebox with Puma to chat about all things Lovebox and fashion with you all so i'll see you then!

nioxin hair treatment

Nioxin Hair Treatment at Michael John Salon, Mayfair

Yesterday I had the pleasure of a post Jubilee treat in a little TLC from Nioxin at the absolutely beautiful Michael John salon in the heart of London's Mayfair. Basically, and i'm going to try and explain the treatment in the simplest form, it's designed to enhance the fuller appearance of hair for thickness and volume. Upon my arrival in Michael John I was taken downstairs to the little haven that is their lower-level salon, and the hair therapist said that she felt treatment number 3 was the best option for my hair type. Firstly,  my hair was cleansed twice with the Cleanser to ensure the scalp was completely clean. She them applied the Scalp Revitaliser though my hair and my scalp did feel really squeaky squeaky clean. That was placed all over my hair then left for 5 minutes to work it's magic. I was told that it might tingle a little bit upon application but I honestly felt absolutely nothing at all.

After this was washed out, my hair was towel dried and the Scalp Treatment was applied all over but not washed off. My hair was then blow dried properly and the instant result was remarkable! My hair had never felt so soft, I think ever, and it looked shiny, glossy and healthy. I was beyond surprised at how quickly the results showed - I was expecting it to take a few washes before I noticed anything but the difference was unreal. Here's some snaps of how healthy and full my hair looked after the blow dry:

Now i'm going to be using Nioxin at home for the next month or so and if my hair looks like it did last night after every wash I can see myself getting addicted to it! I wish you could stick your hand into your laptop and stroke my hair so you could see just how soft it was - I didn't stop playing with it all night. It felt amazing and that in turn made me feel wonderful. Let's see how I get on using it for the next month!

Nioxin retails at home for about £25 although it seems to vary retailer to retailer.

What do you think of Nioxin? Do you think it's something you'd give a go at home? Are you curious to see how I get on, cause I certainly am!
