17.7.11 - 30.7.11

It's been a super busy two weeks this post around and I did a lot of things from crashing in a field for a weekend, trotting out and about around London town and as per always eating my weight in food. Here's my two weeks in photos:

1. I popped along to Estee Lauder HQ - which yes, is amazing as you think it will be - and previewed their new A/W collection. I will as always have a full collection post on this coming really soon with lots of hq photos and the like. There were lots of palettes, lipsticks and gorgeous new fragrances!

2. This is our friend Jay, Del and I went with him for a Pizza Hut buffet before going over to his flat ti watch The Apprentice final all together. There was lots of unanimous love for Tom so we were all very pleased when he won. What was with Helen the snake trying to sneak in a last idea infront of Lord Sugar?! Very unimpressed!!

3. Argos had their Christmas in July press event last week and so myself, Charlotte, Gemma and Amy went down and played with Lego, lots of MeMeMe gifts and much makeup and hair excitement! I fell in love with this epic thing for your video game console where it's like a little platform and you get about six figurines which you can place on the platform and when you place it it goes into the game AND acts as your memory card. HOW COOL IS THAT?!

4. I also embraced the Christmas love at the Sainsburys press day where they'd transformed their HQ into a gorgeous home-from-home style showroom that made me fall in love with christmas all over again. There were beds, lampshades, bathroom goods and above all loads and loads of cute Christmas decorations - I particularly loved this postbox with cards spilling out of it.

5. We've all been working so hard at work this week that my lovely boss decided to nip over the road and buy us all a Lola's cupcake for an afternoon treat!

6. This isn't technically something i've done but while waiting a million forevers for the tube one day I spotted this advertisement and LOVED it! It was a guy looking for someone to come and work for him, and he was advertising it via billboard. I haven't seen it anywhere else in London but i'm a super marketing geek and loved this so much, such a great idea.

7. Our amazing German girl Luisa is leaving to go home (tomorrow actually, sob sob) and she LOVES frozen yoghurt, so the wonderful Sky treated us all to a frozen yoghurt delivery from Soho! Luisa was beyond thrilled and it was so lovely at 11am to have a little frozen yoghurt treat!

8. Last week it was Benitos Hat's third birthday so they celebrated by selling all burritos for £3! We took the walk from Bond St to Oxford St and went and picked up a burrito each. They were so delicious - I really love this mexican. If you're in town check them out. They also do Horchata which I know will please Gemma!

9. It actually ended up being my last post (one before this) but I was honoured and thrilled to meet the delightful Liz Earle in her store last week. She was so lovely and really pleased to meet us all, wanting to learn more about what we all did. She was so great at talking, telling us everything we needed to know without bombarding us with information - it was really relaxed and chatty.

10. Standard week in photos picture, Del and I went and had Nandos at 10pm after i'd been a busy bee running from Estee to Argos, we met in Camden and ate a cheeky Nandos with the free chicken I had on my card before heading to the Barfly to say goodbye to one of our friends who is leaving to go travelling!

11. We went down to the Peel in Kingston and saw a band from the USA called Lemuria play. They are kinda pop punky/90s emo style and were really good fun!

12. Del and I were doing some flathunting, and one of the ones we looked at is right next to a big Wetherspoons, so we popped in at around 10:30am and had a cooked breakfast! It was about £3 each and so tasty, yum.

13. Last but not least, I was very pleasantly surprised when my Mum and sister decided to pop up to London for the day and as I work really centrally I met them for lunch! Was so lovely, really relaxing and a really nice Friday treat. Thanks for coming to see me!

Phew that was a lot of photos. So many other things happened too but if I photographed everything you'd spend half of your Sunday just reading this post! These next couple of weeks look a bit more chilled out for me, the event hysteria of new launches/Christmas in July has died down a bit but now I do have the long task ahead of reviewing everything I have - I'd show you a photo but i'd be worried people would think I were bragging or owt - seriously I need all the help I can get! You'll see some guest reviews popping up for me very soon from a few girls i've sent products to to help me out a bit but lets just say I have no floor at the moment and a lot of over spilling product bags. I can't wait to bring everything all to you, please do stay tuned to The London Lipgloss as there are a lot of exciting things happening here very soon.

This is a great opportunity for me to say thankyou so much for sticking by my blog and to new readers thankyou for joining. My readership is growing faster than I could ever imagine and everyday I am astounded when I check my Google Analytics. This means more than the world to me as my blog has become my life, not only am I obsessed with writing for it i'm addicted to every single thing about it and i'm just beyond thrilled that you are too.

Tomorrow sees the launch of the Cosmopolitan Blog Awards nominations - and if just one person votes for The London Lipgloss it will make my entire blog worth it.

first look: new launch of liz earle colour skin tint

Saturday, July 30, 2011
Three and a half years in the making, the proud team of ladies (and men i'm sure!) at Liz Earle were thrilled to share with me their brand new Skin Tint last Thursday in their lusciously gorgeous Kings Road store as I popped down for a nibble and a chat with Liz about the product. As we know, Liz Earle is famous for organic, mineral and well 'naturally active' skincare aswell as being completely BUAV approved and animal cruelty free. Liz herself is so lovely, really down to earth and friendly - and she's got one of those really soothing voices that you could listen to all day! It was a joy and a pleasure to be able to meet her and talk with her personally!

The new Skin Tint is part of a new collection for Liz Earle called Liz Earle Colour, and not only brings a whole new range of packaging but a completely new cosmetic line. The first product for launch will be the Skin Tint but they do have plans to expand in other areas of cosmetics and bring a new launch of cosmetics eventually to the company.

As you can see, the packaging is a really deep royal sea blue, one actually created by their team when at sea - and the colour has even been patented so it is called 'Liz Earle Marine'. How cool is that? Not only is that instantly recognisable but the fact they've chosen a dark blue over the more favoured black for a cosmetics line is really cool. It's also got a tiny little bit of sparkles in it too!

The Skin Tint itsself comes in three shades at the moment for the initial launch - Bare for the Very Fair, Beige for Medium and Beach for Dark skins. Here are some photos and swatches I took of all three:

Then blended out a little:

And the difference between Bare and Beige incase you're not too sure:

Not only are they buildable once on the skin but the coverage is incredible! Just look how thick, creamy and soft they are. Upon first swatching I was incredibly impressed with their pigmentation. They're like a foundation but with all the good qualities and mineral properties of a tinted moisturiser.
Liz herself has been using the Skin Tint for some time, and she reported that after a whole morning on QVC presenting it did not budge. Not only that but straight after the lights went off for the morning and she was told to come back later in the afternoon, she didn't reapply it at all during the day and experienced no shiny patches or smearing down the face - which is a hugely impressive claim.

The Skin Tint is of course mineral based and instead of a standard SPF it has a mineral sunscreen, which are proven to provide the best UV protection. It is enriched with avocado and the ethos is to create a product with great pigments, buildable colour and soft, clean texture. Of course like all other Liz Earle products this one comes with the joyful jumping rabbit seal of BUAV approval.

^ look at the little flecks of glitter - so pretty!

Now this is the fun part, I have a sneaky link (that isn't on the public website yet!) for you all to sign up now to be one of the very first people in the UK to have a Skin Tint when it launches in September. Just click this link here:
http://uk.lizearle.com/makeup

The Skin Tint will cost £21 when it launches. Liz says it will last approximately 3 months which is a pretty decent time for something that will last you all day with only one application. You get 40mls worth of product. I'm going to be trialling this out now for a month and will report back once i've used it closer to the launch date!
What do you think of Liz Earle? Are you excited by the Skin Tint launch? Will you be registering your interest ready for the launch?
Let me know! Love, Zozo xx

ps. One of Liz's secret wedding flawless tips was to use a shade darker than you normally do and apply all over your legs for an airbrushed leg finish! Obviously only once though - you don't want to use the whole tube up in one go!

Disclaimer: The Skin Tint was provided for me for consideration by the company and the event was hosted by Liz Earle which I am in no way affiliated with.

first look: opening of forever 21 london oxford street store

Thursday, July 28, 2011
So I braved the crowds and headed down to Forever 21 as it launched in London yesterday and took some covert pictures on my iPhone for you all so you could get a feel and overview of the store! The layout is gorgeous, it spreads over three floors encompassing all from accessories to shoes to mens and to fashion obviously. Everything has a sorta Urban Outfitters highstreet-does-boutique vibe about it and the way the merchandising within the store is done is fab! I'll let you have a gander...

Everything is really reasonably priced, some stuff was as little as £2 and the most expensive thing I saw was about £45. The shoes are around £15-£20, jewellery ranges from £2-£7 and clothes are anything from basic tees for £4 to fashion items for a bit more. It has this really preppy American high school vibe about it, especially in the denim section but there are a lot of gorgeous on trend skirts, playsuits and floral numbers that are quite British really. The store was very busy so I couldn't shop around much (i did queue for 20 minutes for a £5 clock necklace!) but i'm sure you'll be seeing more from Forever 21 on my blog soon as I was so excited by the whole thing! H&M is my favourite high street retailer and it's amazing that Forever 21 is similar priced but with a new American range of clothing!

What do you think of Forever 21? Did you visit the store on it's opening? Will you be stopping by on trips to London if you're from elsewhere in the UK?

ladies who lunch with herbal essences

Wednesday, July 27, 2011
On that awful dreary Saturday two weeks ago, a handful of beauty and fashion bloggers gathered at the Crazy Bear members club for a lunch with Herbal Essences. The idea is simple, discuss the science of smells. I never thought this would be such an intriguing topic, with plenty to discuss! Turns out there is a lot more to Herbal Essences than just a pretty smell...it's all been lovingly thought out far further than you ever imagined.

We were treated to a chat by psychologist Geoffrey Beattie who explained what smells mean and what the scents you pick might mean about you. I think what we established about me was that I was a little crazy and sometimes shy! Oh and I also learnt that the citrus/orange fragrance makes men attracted to you subliminally apparently. ;)

The dinner was literally delicious, we got to have a chat and a catch up, I was with Lily (LLYMLRS), Lina (Make Up To Make Out) Jen (Beauty Junkie London) and others, but Sabrina (A little Obsessed) Milly (Pearls and Poodles) Sophie (Sophieismadeup) and Natalya (Filthy Gorgeous Makeup) were all there too - it just felt like a girl's lunch out! Love these ladies. We discussed Twitter politics, Lily's epic business cards and Dil's chance of becoming a superstar in heels!

Photobucket

Anyway here's the lowdown on the new Herbal Essences range Smooth and Soft. There are three products, the Shampoo, Conditioner and Intensive Mask.

Both the Shampoo and Conditioner are lovely, I couldn't get over how incredible they smelled. I've used Herbal Essences before but when I was younger and mainly just on holiday, but I certainly haven't used them within the last 5 years or so. I think just because of the packaging being so bright and colourful it's not something that instantly appeals to me as something I want to wash my hair with. But here we are forgetting one of the beauty industries' secret golden rules: just because it's expensive does not mean it is better. This stuff is incredibly cheap, actually it's being sold in Superdrug right now for £1.99 a bottle (woah!) but it's easily some of the best hair products I have ever used. I'm halfway through both bottles and I got them two weeks ago. The main reason is how incredible they smell. Seriously this stuff lingers. We were all joking around about swishing our hair at the event (until the downpour!) and being all 'ooooh' and 'aaah' but I got home, tried this stuff and woah, it smells amazing! Like, amazing. Del and I always fall asleep in this certain position where Del lies flat on his back and I lie on his chest so my hair is in his face and the first time I used this he was like 'you smell seriously amazing' and I personally can't stop sniffing my hair whenever I get the opportunity - 'cause it's long enough to pull to my nose now hehe.

Photobucket

Photobucket

There's also this Intensive Mask. I love these things, I use at least one a week (see previous posts on Umberto Gianinni and V05) and so this one was added sweetly to my collection of conditioning treatments in my shower. It certainly doesn't disappoint. Like the others in this collection it smells amazing and it's quite thick and pink in colour. Because it's quite thick you need to be careful not to apply any to the roots of your hair incase you bog it down with too much heavy product - we still want hair to be light and swishable, right? This Intensive Mask is great too because it costs only £4!

Photobucket

I've been doing this new thing where I wash my hair with this collection, alternating between conditioner most days and then the intensive treatment one day midweek or as and when needed, and then leaving my hair to dry naturally before blasting it with cold air before bed. Not only has it hugely repaired my hair it just feels and acts a lot nicer. Excuse my split ends in this photo (need a haircut) but look how shiny, rich and just happy looking my hair is after years and years of hair abuse:

Photobucket

Happy hair = happy Zozo.

I never use the same collection of hair products every single day, I'm always alternating. But since I got these I have used nothing else at all, I haven't felt I needed to and quite frankly i'm hooked on the smell! I'm definitely converted to Herbal Essences and i'm going to be repurchasing these straight away - they're up there in my Hair Hall of Fame with the Aussie collection I love. I love how you can treat your hair and smell amazing on a budget - with this whole collection costing you £8.

What do you think of Herbal Essences? Is expensive better or are there some little inexpensive gems that make you feel a million dollars like Herbal makes me feel? Have you tried this collection? Did that pudding photo make you want pudding? (sorry!)
