series: christmas party season dresses: LBD

Thursday, November 18, 2010
Hello! It's nearly christmas time! Starbucks red cups are out, the Coca Cola advert has been on tv and the stores are filled with sparkle for your christmas parties. So that means it's totally party time! I'm gonna bring you my favourite christmas party dresses to give you inspiration to go out and be merry this holiday season. Now, everyone knows about the LBD, right? Of course i'm a big fan of this, every single girl has a gorgeous black dress that fits them and makes them feel amazing. I had one previously, but I think i've just found a new replacement. Now of course, this being my blog it's obviously not a plain black dress...it's got quite a lot of studs on it. But that's okay, we like studs here. Enter H&M, with this beaut:

Dress: H&M  £24.99
Shoes: H&M  £14.99
Tights: Henry Holland for Pretty Polly £15
Necklace: Vivienne Westwood £85
Hair flower: River Island £2.99

I wore this outfit out in Kingston the other night, and while I was severely overdressed for a mid-week punk/emo/ska night, I loved it. H&M is rapidly becoming my favourite store, I always manage to find things I love in there.

I figured that seeing as the dress and the shoes were both quite a big statement I thought i'd go with minimal makeup, so influenced by Dita Von Teese I rocked the upper lid eyeliner and mascara, with foundation and a tiny bit of MAC's Creme Cup lipstick (although most of it had rubbed off by the time Del had got a picture of me I was satisfied with!)

Anyway thought i'd try my best to get on top of outfit posts again, as they're probably my favourite kinds of posts to do. What do we think of them and the idea behind this series? Gotta go find myself some sparkly party dresses now!

What do you think of my new LBD? It's pretty much my new BFF! Haha. How do you feel about H&M, do you shop there a lot or do you skip it? Is my hair still good? Haha. *is cheeky*
lots and lots of love, zozo xxxx

blondiesque at bartok camden

Sunday, November 14, 2010
Hello ladies! So if you follow my twitter feed - and if you don't its right up there ^ - you'll have seen that last wednesday I tweeted that I was off to Camden to do some modelling for a Blondie themed fashion show. In the end it turned out to be more like a photoshoot but it was still awesome fun. Thought i'd share with you some of the professional photographers' photos from the night. These themed nights happen at Bartok all the time and I think i'll be doing another soon so please come down if you live in London, it's a wicked night out! The girl with the red hair and stripey tee is my friend Abi, and she dj's at Bartok every Wednesday. :) Anyway here are the photos!

totally proving that shades are not a good look for me^

It was so much fun! Not entirely sure about my face in any of the photos but there we go. I was more of the 80's punk Blondie, but I really think that Lizzie and Meesh (blonde hair + red dress girls) were the most convincing Blondies! We discovered that Abi (red hair) makes an amazing Gaga! Nevertheless we had a right giggle all doing each others makeup and fishing around for clothes to wear. :)
What do you think of the photos? Also pink hair is still a bit new, eek, do we like or do we prefer the blue? Hehe. Let me know what you thought.

Also i'm running a bit dry on blog inspiration at the moment, what kind of posts do you wanna see more of/less of? Please be honest, it helps absolutely loads!
Lots of love, Zozo xxxx

how to create your own diy ramona flowers hair in blue, green and pink

Thursday, November 11, 2010
Hey all. Hope you're well. Thought i'd create a little how to considering i've spent the last 2 months being Ramona Flowers :D First up was blue:

Ramona Green:

And now...Ramona Pink!

So in the space of 2 months i've been every Ramona Flowers hair colour. Considering hers were all wigs in the movie, i'm quite proud of how i've done! So, for anyone looking to re-create any of the above Ramona looks here's some little London Lipgloss recipe books for how to do it, but please remember i'm not a hairdresser nor a hair specialist so please do seek the advice of your hairdresser, i'm just a girl with balls who isn't afraid to shove any old dye on her hair! This is going from my experience, and the brands featured are the ones that worked for me, always do the strand tests as recommended on the box to ensure it's right for your skin. :)

Blue Ramona

You will need;
2 Boxes of Bleach - I used Schwartzkopf 00A Absolute Platinum
One Pot of Manic Panic Virgin Snow White Toner
One Pot of Manic Panic Amplified Dye in After Midnight Blue (I used this one) or Bad Boy Blue

First assess what colour your hair currently is. If your hair is dyed, you will need to take into consideration the tone of what your hair is. If it is red, you will need to consider that the bleach will make it go orange, and you cannot put the blue on top of orange. If your hair is dyed black it will go ginger, which will have the same effect. If your hair is naturally blonde you may not even need to bleach, and may just skip to the white toner.
After your hair has been bleached, it should be a light yellow toned blonde. From here you can then put the white toner on the top which will make the blue more vibrant when you come to put the blue on the top.
After the toner has been on for 30 minutes (don't leave for much longer, it might go lilac!) then you can towel dry the hair and put the Manic Panic blue on. Now with Manic Panic you can leave the dye for as long as desired, just bear in mind that after the alloted time the colour may 'mutate' depending on how it takes to your hair. I left the dye on for 2 and a half hours and it went a very very deep blue.
Things to consider with blue:
1. It is very very stubborn to get out once put in so make sure you're making the right decision!
2. It DOES fade quickly, and it fades to green.
3. I found this to be the only Manic Panic that permanently stained my (boyfriends) bathroom!

Green Ramona

You will need;
2 Boxes of Bleach - I used Schwartzkopf 00A Absolute Platinum
One Pot of Manic Panic Virgin Snow White Toner
One Pot of Manic Panic Amplified Dye - now I used blue and let it fade to green, as this was more convienient for my busy lifestyle but you could use Atomic Turquoise or Electric Lizard

Again, assess what colour your hair currently is. If your hair is dyed, you will need to take into consideration the tone of what your hair is. If it is red, you will need to consider that the bleach will make it go orange, and you cannot put the green on top of orange. If your hair is dyed black it will go ginger, which will have the same effect. If your hair is naturally blonde you may not even need to bleach, and may just skip to the white toner.
After your hair has been bleached, it should be a light yellow toned blonde. From here you can then put the white toner on the top which will make the green more vibrant when you come to put the blue on the top.
After the toner has been on for 30 minutes (don't leave for much longer, it might go lilac!) then you can towel dry the hair and put the Manic Panic green on. I'd recommend if you are dying it straight green to leave it on for as long as you can, perhaps even sleeping in it overnight as green is going to fade mad quickly, and it'll fade to yellow where it's taken in the blonde. Unless you're going for Gaga yellow i'd definitely try and let your hair absorb as much of the green as possible.

Things to consider with green:
1. It is better to plan ahead and try and think of the colour it will fade to, i'd recommend dying your hair blue first to let it fade to green instead of dying it straight green - green will fade to yellow.
2. Again, it's semi-permanent so it's going to fade quickly.
3. I had a really, really hard time trying to strip this out of my hair when changing to pink. As as result i've had to use a lot of bleach and my hair is very unforgiving of this. Make sure it's totally the right decision as I will not lie to you, it was VERY hard to get out.

Pink Ramona

You will need;
2 Boxes of Bleach - I used Schwartzkopf 00A Absolute Platinum
One Pot of Manic Panic Virgin Snow White Toner
One Pot of Manic Panic Amplified Dye in Hot Hot Pink (i used this one) or you could use Cotton Candy Pink or Pretty Flamingo

Pink is easier to put in your hair as it will still take quite well to orange/ginger toned hair. However it's also more likely to go purple so if you're after a true pink then i'd ensure your hair is almost white.
After your hair has been bleached, it should be a light yellow toned blonde.
From here you can then put the white toner on the top which when dying pink is a really key step, as i mentioned above you're more likely to get a true pink the whiter it is. Also when it fades it'll go a cotton candy soft baby pink instead of a orange toned pink.
After the toner has been on for 30 minutes (don't leave for much longer, it might go lilac!) then you can towel dry the hair and put the Manic Panic pink on. Again, how long you leave it on is up to you.
Things to consider with pink:
1. The whiter you get it the truer the pink.
2. Again, it's semi-permanent so it's going to fade quickly.

The London Lipglosses's top tips for abormally dyed hair:
1.  It's ALWAYS better to dye it darker than you want it, it's really going to fade quickly as all coloured dyes are semi-permanent. Think deep blues and deep pinks will fade to bright blues and pinks.
2. The easiest way to think of the results is to think of it like paint. If you paint pink on white paper it will go pink, if you paint pink on blue paper it will go purple, etc.
3. When using Manic Panic dyes, the colours are enriched by heat, so spend at least 5-10 minutes of taking-time with the hairdryer putting heat on the colour.
4. You can use any brand, i've only featured Manic Panic as it's been very reliable for me, and the colours are strong and rich. It's also a vegan dye so it's very kind to hair, and even when your hair has been stripped dry by bleach it will pop moisture back into it.
5. Ramona dyes her hair every week and a half, but hers are wigs. Don't try to jump from one colour too quickly to another, your hair will frazzle. I had to cut half of mine off :(
6. Again, along the same paint strand, do not be afraid to mix colours up. I dyed pink over blue and it created a gorgeous violet.
7. Ensure you use a really strong conditioner afterwards, i'd highly recommend Aussie 3 Minute Miracle conditioner for coloured hair, it keeps mine in tip top condition.
8. To keep hair bright even when washing (i wash my hair once a day!) get a spare pot of the dye, and pour one measure into your shampoo, this will refresh the colour just enough to keep it bright but not too much to get dye everywhere/ruin your hair. Think 100mls shampoo - 10mls dye.
9. If you are looking to put two colours in your hair, make sure you seperate the colours using non metal pins and salon foils and wash them individually, if you don't the colours will bleed as soon as you wash, and then you will be back at square one.
10. Don't be afraid of colour. I promise you it can be rectified, as long as you follow the above steps and the instructions on your relevant dye it will be just as easy to get out as to put in.

As much as I sometimes miss having normal hair I also love being individual and with such striking celebrities such as Rihanna, Hayley Williams and Katy Perry just to name a few carving the way for coloured haired girls I am now proud of my hair. Check out www.cyberdog.co.uk or visit the shop in the Camden Stalls and give it a go.
Here's a swatch chart of all Manic Panic colours if anyone is looking to give it a go and also some photos I found on the net of hair inspirations to get you inspired. :)

lanvin loves h&m collection

Wednesday, November 10, 2010
Hello. Something a little different from me this time, i've seen excitement surrounding this collection for a little while especially on lookbook.nu and I thought i'd share some of the key pieces with you for anyone who is looking to shop the collection - out in H&M shops November 20th.

Personally i'm absolutely loving the t shirt and the leopard print shoes! I haven't featured the whole collection, just the standout pieces for me. It also features 4 lipsticks which will look something like this:

They'll retail at £7.99 each so i'm looking forward to seeing how they'll compare to my favourite lipsticks. Definitely liking the look of the last two colours aswell, mmm pink. :)

I'm a big fan of H&M at the best of times, i think its really affordable and I love their designer collaborations. Will this beat last years highly anticipated Jimmy Choo collab? What do you think about the images so far? Will you be queueing down Regent St when the collection launches on the 20th Nov? What is standing out for you? Please let me know in the comments!
I'm off out now to do some modelling at a catwalk show in Camden, wicked!

switzerland trip and flying the flag for aussie colour mate angels everywhere!

Thursday, November 04, 2010
Hello! How are you doing? I've returned from my little Swiss trip with Del and Biffy Clyro! We had an incredible time however i'm stupidly poor now. Switzerland is a very expensive country indeed. However we saw the bright side, tried not to let it get to us and had a really lovely time anyway. Here are some photos of the trip:

The Biffy gig was incredible, we had a really great view and on top of that, i've now been invited to photograph Biffy at their London date - Wembley Stadium. Cue excited Zoe face! Very pleased indeed and really not only made the trip worthwhile but got me excited about the future again. Here are a couple of my Biffy photos:

What do you think?

Okay so i've been a naughty girl again, and dying my hair! This time i popped manic panic hot hot pink on top of my after midnight blue....and this is what happened..

Whoops - about to rectify those skanky chipped nails right now! It's much much brighter in person, and i'm a lot happier with it.
What do you think of Switzerland? Are you a big Biffy fan like me? Do we prefer purple zozo or blue zozo? Be honest!
Am now off to paint my nails with some wicked skull transfers i just bought, and plan my hairdo for the Aussie event in London tomorrow - who's going? See you there!
Lots of love xxxx
